Which File Format should I use?
The ambisonic surround sound content on SoundOfSpace is offered in a range of formats depending on what kind of system you have set up. There's all sorts of different ways to get multichannel content to your speakers, the following describes the most common cases:
m4a
Choose this format if you have a computer hooked up to a surround system via a 5.1 sound card.
ac3
Choose this format if you'd like to send the files digitally to your AV receiver.
UA torrent
Choose this format if you want the raw Ambisonic data... and you know what you are doing!
The torrent file is actually just a tiny file that allows Bittorrent software to download the *.ua file. UA stands for 'Universal Ambisonic' and is a losslessly compressed multi-channel wav file.
To use this format, you'll need a Bittorrent client to download the UA file, the wavpack software to uncompress it and then you'll need an ambisonic decoder to play it.
